A judge has ordered a tenant must leave his property after he subjected an Arches staff member to abusive and threatening behaviour.
The possession hearing at Sheffield County Court followed a serious incident at the property in September 2025. Arches Housing staff attended the address in response to concerns regarding a breach of the tenancy agreement. During this visit, our staff were subjected to abusive and threatening behaviour by the tenant.
As a result of the incident, it was deemed unsafe for staff and contractors to continue attending the property. This prevented essential checks and repair work from being carried out, which could cause risk not only to the tenant but also to neighbouring properties.
After reviewing the evidence and witness statements presented, District Judge Gardner granted possession of the property back to Arches Housing and awarded costs in its favour.
Zero-tolerance
Arches Housing operates a zero-tolerance approach to the abuse of its staff and contractors. This outcome reinforces the organisation’s commitment to protecting its employees and sets a clear precedent for how similar cases will be addressed in the future.
