Recently, colleagues at Arches Housing took part in dedicated training, led by Michael O’Keefe - Neighbourhood Manager, focusing on identifying, preventing, and reporting tenancy fraud. This forms an important part of our commitment to protecting our properties, our communities, and the people who rely on social housing.
Tenancy fraud is a criminal offence, and its impact is felt far beyond a single property. When a home is unlawfully sublet or obtained without genuine need, the consequences are significant and far reaching and affect not only individual families in need but the community as a whole.
Housing crisis
As we are aware, the national housing crisis is significant. Combined with the increasing unaffordability of homeownership for many people, the demand for affordable housing continues to rise. It is therefore essential that the allocation and use of social housing is managed fairly and consistently across all housing associations.
With this in mind, Arches Housing places great importance on staff training, ensuring our teams understand what to look for and how to appropriately respond to potential cases of tenancy fraud.
At Arches, we believe every home should support the individuals and families who truly need it.
