Arches Team Strengthens Safeguarding Skills Through Domestic Abuse Awareness Training

The Arches team has taken part in a dedicated Domestic Abuse Awareness and Safeguarding training session this week, reinforcing its commitment to supporting tenants and ensuring colleagues have the confidence and skills to respond effectively to those who may be vulnerable.

The training, delivered by experienced facilitator Tahira Hussain, provided a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of domestic abuse and safeguarding. Team members enhanced their understanding of the signs, triggers and behaviours that may indicate a person is experiencing abuse or could be at risk, helping to strengthen their ability to identify concerns and offer appropriate support.

A Responsibility Beyond Housing

As housing professionals, Arches staff are often welcomed into tenants' homes and trusted with insight into their everyday lives. This unique position places an important responsibility on Arches Housing to remain informed, vigilant and ready to act when concerns arise.

The training highlighted the importance of recognising potential safeguarding issues early, asking the right questions with confidence, and ensuring individuals are connected to the support services they need. By continually developing these skills, the team is better equipped to help protect tenants and promote their wellbeing.

Protecting People and Supporting Communities

The session served as a powerful reminder that safeguarding goes far beyond processes and procedures. At its heart, safeguarding is about protecting people, building trust and helping communities thrive.

Reflecting Arches' ongoing commitment to tenant safety and welfare, the training has further strengthened the team's knowledge and awareness, ensuring they remain prepared to provide support when it is needed most.
