About us About us

You could be excused for thinking you may have seen Charlotte’s face somewhere before – quite possibly as over the last 10 years she has worked on and off in a number of different roles at Arches. She’s also left and come back on three separate occasions (possibly four if you count her maternity leave). Sandwich into that time a uni degree, youth work and completing the CIH’s (Chartered Institute of Housing) level 4 qualification. We’re not sure how Charlotte has managed to fit it all in!

When asked why she loves working at Arches so much that she keeps on returning, Charlotte commented:

“It has to be the staff and customers; Arches has a real friendly community based feel to it. Everyone is willing to go the extra mile to help – not something every organisation can say. I always use the phrase “We’re small but mighty” and I think that sums up the Arches approach. We have a number of colleagues who have been with the company for long periods of time, and they’ve set the bar high for everyone else to strive towards”.

It's clear that Charlotte enjoys her job at Arches, why else would she keep returning. She talks about being trusted to do her job and not micro-managed by senior leaders which gives everyone the feeling of empowerment and the ability to make the right decisions on a daily basis. Charlotte adds:

“If I was asked what three words, I would use to describe Arches, I would simply say – Unique, Strong and Open. As an organisation we’re different to other housing providers, we don’t aspire to be bigger than we are, and we understand the importance of knowing our customers’ needs individually.  We are strong in the sense that we aren’t afraid to tackle new and ever-changing issues in the housing sector, but we do this the Arches way – with passion and pride. And our openness comes from our ability to adapt and change to each situation we’re faced with – not a one shoe fits all approach”.

She continues:

“Over all of my years with Arches, I have had one constant that always pushes me to be the best I can be and that is Sally, my manager. She’s taught my everything in housing I’ve ever needed to know (as well as a few other important life points along the way). I really feel passionately that a job is about the people, especially those people who take the time and dedication to help nurture and grow other people’s talents”.
