“It fills me with great pride to be part of an organisation that embraces diversity and inclusivity”
Momin or ‘Mo’ to those who know him, has been with Arches Housing as a Finance Manager for close to six years now and credits Arches as being an organisation grounded on its values. He comments:
“I’ve always been very passionate about working for an organisation with good values having come from a humble upbringing. Arches continues to be a very inclusive landlord, and this is reflected in our diverse range of residents and staff. We’re one big family at Arches - I always feel I can be myself at work and so do my colleagues”.
Mo goes on to explain that Arches has a resident base which is made up of over 50% of customers from the BAME (Black, African and Minority Ethnic) community and as a British Bangladeshi Muslim himself, he acknowledges the importance of an organisation embracing this, creating community cohesion and offering support and guidance to its customers. Mo adds:
“It fills me with great pride to be a part of an organisation that embraces diversity and inclusivity with Arches, in my eyes, leading the way as an inclusive landlord. I decided a couple of years ago I wanted to share knowledge from my own Muslim culture with colleagues and residents. So I created an annual date sharing event.
Mo continues:
“In the Muslim culture, dates are commonly gifted as they are traditionally eaten to break the fast and are also packed with amazing health benefits. I wanted to acknowledge the importance of gift giving in the Muslim culture, especially around Eid as this is a celebratory time for everyone involved. Arches supported me with this idea and our Ramadan/Eid celebration is now infamous across the organisation and with our customers.
I also saw it as a wonderful excuse to provide a wide selection of delicious South Asian savouries and desserts which always go down very well after the fasting month of Ramadan”.
