What Is Cuckooing?
Cuckooing is when a drug gang or dealer takes over someone’s home - usually a vulnerable adult’s to use it for criminal activity, such as storing, producing, or selling drugs.
Gangs often target people who are struggling, using threats or manipulation to avoid being caught by the police. Cuckooing is often linked to county lines crime, where gangs exploit children and vulnerable adults.
Who Is Most at Risk?
People who may be targeted include:
> Those with drug or alcohol addiction
> People struggling financially
> Older adults
> People with mental health issues
> People with learning disabilities
What should you do if you think someone is being cuckooed:
Call the police on 101

Speak to someone you trust—a family member, friend, or the police
