Ending your tenancy
Ending your tenancy
We want ending your tenancy with us to be a simple process. Following the steps below will help you avoid delays, extra rent charges, or problems when you leave.
Notice required
If you want to end your tenancy, you must tell us.
- We will send you a form to complete, sign and return or you can download the form at the bottom of this page
- When we receive the completed form, your four-week notice period will start on the following Monday.
- Your tenancy will always end on a Sunday.
Property condition and home visit
During your notice period, we will arrange to visit you at home. At this visit, we will:
- Check the condition of the property, including all rooms and any garden areas.
- Let you know if there is anything you need to put right before you leave.
- We will talk to you about any tenancy related issues like rent arrears.
Rent and other charges
You are responsible for rent and if applicable service charge payments until the end of your tenancy.
Before the end of your notice period, you will need to:
- Pay any outstanding rent arrears.
- Pay any outstanding maintenance recharges.
- Pay any other outstanding debts, such as court costs.
If you are struggling to pay any outstanding amounts in full, we may be able to agree a repayment plan.
Leaving the property
You must take all of your belongings with you when you leave the property. The property should be completely empty of your personal possessions.
You should also remove any carpets, curtains and blinds unless we have agreed that they can be left.
If your property has a garden, shed or outbuilding, these must also be completely cleared. If you leave items in the property or garden, we will charge you for removing them.
Returning your keys
You must return all keys for your property to our office.
- Return the keys before 12:00 noon on the Monday following the end of your tenancy.
If you do not return the keys by this time, you may be charged an additional week's rent. You will remain responsible for the rent on the property until the keys are returned.
